The Blank Canvas: Is There Anything Better?
I swear there is nothing that gives an artist greater joy than a blank canvas. The possibilities are endless for creation to run free and imagination to take over. It may seem insignificant, but it has the greatest potential. That's what makes it so magical; but, it is also what makes it the greatest challenge.
I see the canvas staring back at me, mocking me. If it could speak, I imagine it would say, "Come on, Karyn. Let's see how badly you can mess me up." Ooooh the challenge is right there, in my hand, on the end of a wooden stick with hog bristles and oil paste. I think to myself, "Fine. I'm up for the challenge. Let us just see how badly I can mess you up." And then... it's go time.
From the look of things, I have finally been reunited with my oil paints and brushes. I really had no idea just how much I had missed them until I had gotten them back. I feel so much more--for lack of a better word--complete. The ability for expression now seems endless. And now, my viewers, you will finally be able to see the progression of the oil painting process. Woohoo and here we go!

A Wedding on the Lake
Don't you just love new adventures? This past weekend, I went to a friend's wedding and it was gorgeous, not just the bride but the amazing landscape as well. It had rained and down-poured for two days straight before the wedding. And a half hour before the ceremony started, the clouds cleared way for the bright and magnificent sun to shine down its rays on the New York finger lake. It was a fun wedding and a wonderful celebration of the union between husband and wife. I have taken just a few pictures from the area and of the ceremony in order to express just a small portion of the beauty and happiness felt at such a picturesque occasion.

--Photography is Up--
I absolutely love artistic expression through photography. I like to believe that we all know how to find beauty in this world. One of my passions is to capture that beauty in its frame, so that it may last forever and be appreciated as I appreciate it in its moment.

Business STARTS. So far soooo good.
What an exciting month. My paper mache elephant that balances on its stand is being displayed at a centerpiece in the Bethel Public Library. This will be the first of many displays of my artwork. But you are here to witness it! Leave a post/comment that you came to the site and saw my elephant. Tell me how you liked it and anything else you may want to add. Thanks. Cheers.
